When talking about the new Burton Lipstick, three things that come to mind: snap, pop and power. This season, this board is where it’s at: three simple words that uphold three principle technologies. The V-shape design, also known as the process flying V, is tweaked to custom fit its female riders, while keeping in mind two key aspects of geometry and fitness with added softness underfoot and a stiffer nose to tail. A unique merger of rocker and camber sanctions both deep powder and a swifter turn response. Burton’s new “women’s-specific True Flex” offers torsional smoothness and underside transitions to stabilizing areas between and outside the feet, without compromising its snap, pop and power. The overall objective of the V-Shape design is to promote a spring-loaded performance that capitalizes on the board’s playfulness and control, making it an excellent all-mountain freestyle board.

Apart from its distinctive flying V-shape, the Burton Lipstick offers a unique contour by extending Frostbite edges. Unlike its contemporaries, the Burton Lipstick offers bulging edges that extend beneath the bindings to clutch hard-pack snow and ice, while providing an incredible carving radius. In laymen’s terms, this new technology will give you the advantage this season. Lastly, coined by Burton as, “Jumper Cables Hi-Voltage,” carbon stringers direct energy from the camber zone outward to the tips without compromising its spirit. It all equals a poppy, snappy, do-it-all power board that will have you grinning ear to ear.

Still not convinced? Well some other feature favorites may just help to persuade. The symmetrical twin tips increase stability for a balanced journey with equal abilities to ride regular or switch. Directional flex elements serve to increase pop in the tail, while a more resilient nose gives its rider control and flow through all terrain and conditions. Not to mention, the layered-cake wood core is light and loaded with spring. However a more notable feature would be the board’s Triax Fiberglass technology, summed up in two words: absorbability and durability. With versatile flex and response, you can stay fast while shredding everything from big mountain vertical, to deep pow and knee-high jibs in the park. Moreover, the board’s scoop, an exaggerated tip and tail, turns its edges upward for a freer, more forgiving feel that makes it nearly impossible to catch an edge. Lastly, the tapered tip and tail thickness, or pro-tip, has a slimmer core, which will reduce swing, allowing its rider to spin, maneuver and float through powder quicker and easier than its counterparts. The board’s intense graphics, courtesy of UK artist, Hush, is like a deconstruction of mural art, in which the through-composed layers of paint and images take on their own path.

So in the end, what do all this snap, pop and power give you? A mountain beast. Something you can really sink your teeth into. There’s no doubt this board is fast. Really fast. Freestyle and park-focused without compromising its cruising and deep pow, back-country abilities, the Burton Lipstick is not like anything you’ve ever experienced before. Its three principle technologies, serenaded by a host of multipurpose features, makes this board a proficient for all snow conditions, allowing you to complete that all-mountain bucket-list while extending your park repertoire. So what’s the world saying about this deck? It’s the top pick for 2012 women’s freestyle boards. Aggressive, yet playful, with high amp snap, pop and power, this board is well suited for the advanced and progressive female rider.
Enjoy.

  1. In my opinion this is the best women’s snowboard there is. I absolutely loooove the shape and look of the board. The Lipstick also looks like it has a lot of spring
for a hybrid rocker board. I bet it performs really well and is really nice and light. For me, I only ride in good conditions so for me, I think the Lipstick is a great
choice. Thanks for posting this review!

  2. Hey Elizabeth, nice review about the Lipstick. I love the fact that this board has a
premium blend of Camber and Rocker, it’s like it gives you the best of both worlds. Rocker
between and outside your feet loosen up the tip and tail for more
playfulness and float in powder, and subtle Camber under both feet give
the board extra spring and drive in turns acting like suspension. Niiice.
