The 5 Point Cafe in Seattle, Washington definitely deserves 5 out of 5 points. It’s everything that an authentic dive bar should be and more.
It starts things out right with two catchy slogans – “Cheating tourists and drunks since 1929” and “alcoholics serving alcoholics since 1929” – to greet you first before entering the bar and then again when you saddle up at the counter to order a drink. The 5 Point Cafe is, in fact, the oldest bar in Seattle’s Belltown and the longest continually running family owned eatery in the city.
The 5 Point Cafe is know for its cheap drinks (they’re stiff too), it’s old-fashioned jukebox with killer jams, and it’s tacky sign-covered interior walls. It features both a breakfast and an after-work happy hour as well as the extremely greasy food that dive bars are known for (except that it’s actually really good here).
The 5 Point Cafe has an actual periscope above the urinal in the men’s restroom so that you can view the Space Needle as you’re doing your thing.
Oh yeah, did I mention that it’s open 24 hours per day?
